Too much is never too much, and just enough is enough.

You see, in our world, there exists a certain hierarchy. The people at the bottom devote their lives to achieve financial freedom, while those who have transcended higher, aspire for freedoms of a different kind. Most of us are so entangled, so helpless, that there never comes a time when money isn’t at the back of our minds. Most people spend their entire life at the bottom, constantly struggling to amass as much wealth as they can.

It’s not a sin to be obsessed with money, for without it, there can be no material benefits. But what about the richness of experience? The richness of knowledge or that of the inner world? These are the questions that people belonging to the present generation must ponder upon.

Funny, isn’t it? We middle-class people secretly want that the poor should remain poor, as poverty is a necessary condition for an easy supply of servants. Yet out in the open, we pretend that the penury of the masses concerns us deeply. We hide who we are and wear masks. All of us.

After having everything, a rich man seeks applause and reverence, for there is guilt in his mind. The guilt of having everything in this world.

For Marx, the only thing that motivates humans is money. For Freud, it’s libido. And for Schopenhauer, it is the blind metaphysical will. All are horribly wrong. More than anything, man seeks meaning in his life. And in that meaning, he seeks superiority over others.
