Sophia recognised the innocence of his intentions no matter how many times they made her bleed. She'd fallen for him, blinded by the light that he'd shone in her eyes. Blinded by the warm sensation of love inside her that was stronger than any other feeling. Stronger than the times when he would pierce her soul with insecurities and paranoia, when he would lock her in the dark and make her feel like she was unworthy. Unworthy of light, unworthy of him.

She lay there, pale and pasty with a layer of grey smothered over her skin. Her head was slumped against the drawer like a dead flower as her arms hung limp on her sides. Her cheeks had been stained with tears and I wondered whether she really wanted to die.

Not everybody looks sad when they are depressed.

Maybe I'm just tired.

They'd lay there and watch the magical show in the sky as it transformed from one colour to the next, before fading into darkness in a matter of moments. The sun had a split personality of its own.

Her fierce and angry soul hides amongst the beauty of her light. She's deadly and contagious as she blazes from person to person burning all that she touches. She roams without a shadow and she doesn't want to be seen. She lives in the form on humanity and it's hard to tell. It's hard to tell who is infected with her evil and who is not. Fire, it's a dangerous thing.

Humans, we survive differently. We numb those empty feelings, we revert to anger and hatred. We block out remorse because we no longer want to care. It's an escape of some sort, to hide the long periods of trying to deal with the bouts of bullshit in the right way. We betray ourselves, we lose our values, and worse, we forget who we are.

We are all flames waiting to be fed
