Good and evil are not really opposite to each other, but complementary to each other like man and woman. Both the genders exist in the world in almost the same numbers. In the same way, when society tries to create ‘goodness’ of any form, an opposite of good, that is, ‘evil’ is also created in the world to balance the goodness.

When you force your mind to solve difficult problems of life, it soon starts feeling good due to its ability to solve them. It develops deeper thoughts and its intelligence gets sharpened. It is so energised that it wants to take even more problems and solve them, even if they pertains to others.

Knowing the people does not mean giving an adjective to everyone such as good, bad, selfish, selfless, honest or liar because every person is a combination of the opposite qualities in different proportions. You will never find anyone a complete angel or a devil, as angels and demons, both together, make up a person’s personality.

When you understand that there is nothing really good or bad in this world in the absolute sense, you focus your attention on balancing everything in the appropriate manner rather than craving for something and discarding the rest. A happy person, like a healthy person, takes a balanced diet of everything that nature presents to him.

Only when we hate evil, can we love what is good.One who tries to love everyone, may end up loving no one.

Good and evil are the cause and effect of each other. When you try to become good, you also become evil because the seeds of evil are concealed in all goodness just like the code of ‘death’ is already written in all ‘births’. Those who are considered to be evil by some are also viewed as good by others. The terrorist of one society is the martyr of another.

The purpose of evil is to complement the good. If there is no hatred in this world, there can’t be any love too. While love is a positive emotion, hatred is a negative emotion. Yet the feeling of love can’t exist in a person without invoking hatred. The more you are capable of loving, the more you are capable of hating, since the source of love and hatred is the same – passion. A man without passion can experience neither love nor hatred.

Everything in this world seems to be created in pairs. If there is a man, there is a woman—in almost equal numbers. In the same way, there is pleasure with pain, love with hatred, wisdom with ignorance, passion with repulsion, ecstasy with depression, and so on. The world seems to have been divided into two attributes—good and evil. Even God seems to be divided--God Himself and His counterpart—the Devil.

Scriptures exhorted men to shun evil and become good—which seems to be an impossible task—since as soon as we try to add goodness in us, evil too gets added in us without our effort—almost automatically.
