Peace with non-fundamentalists terrifies the fundamentalist because to them, being Christian doesn't mean just being 'good' - it means being 'better' than others. Being better that others means having to see them as enemies - and making war on them. The fundamentalist views not being allowed to make war on their enemies as oppression of their faith, or defeat.

Peace, shalom, salaam – to all – in our homes, in our streets, in our countries, on our world, and most importantly, in our hearts and minds – not just for one day of the year, or two, but for every day, and for every year, always.

The idea that all people can and should live together in peace is not really a new one - but yet in practice it is very young indeed.

Knowing who you are is half the peace of accepting yourself.
