As a kid I used to sit on this muscular branch in the old apple tree. And the branch was high enough to make you feel like you were above the earth, but low enough to make you feel that the fall wouldn’t kill you. And it wasn’t until I was adult that I realized that the fear of heights is in reality the fear of the fall. And because that’s the case, we rarely get into the treetops.

It is not a matter of the size of the mountains that stand before us. For although the size of our faith might ‘pale’ in comparison, the size of our God handily ‘impales’ all comparisons.

With God, a mountain is nothing more than a road that we’ve mistaken for something that it’s not in order to excuse us from a journey that we fear.

With God, anything that stands against you will always be inferior to what resides within you.

In times of crisis, what we don’t need are nice ideas or colorful platitudes or the congenial pat-on-the-back. What we need is a God Who so perfectly transcends the thing that is attacking us that His presence alone obliterates all of the fear within us.

The size of the giant in front of you will always be determined by the size of the giant within you.

No matter the height of them, faith takes the mountains that stand in front of us and makes them the road that passes under us.

If God had to build a door, it’s because we erected a wall.

Too often it’s about what stands before us, not what stands within us.
