At the point that Jesus shows up in the storm, He and I become the storm.

When it comes to the challenges that we’re facing, they’re not necessarily as small as we would like them to be, but they’re probably not as big as we fear them to be.

If the story of my life is about the storms that I have weathered, I will tell you that it is not the force of the storm that matters. What matters is that I had the privilege of the storm so that I might understand the power of the calm.

The darkness might hide things really well, but it doesn’t have the power to make them disappear. And when it comes to our dreams, we might want to remember that.

It’s not that I’ve been invited to the hole I’m standing in. It’s that I accepted the invitation.

For many, their dream is simply to survive until tomorrow. And in these situations, my prayer is not that God would alter their circumstances nor change their heart. Rather, it is that they would invite God into both.

It is the storm that I watch so that it will not catch me unawares, when I should be watching God in the storm so that He can catch me in the waves.

If I presume the flood that engulfs me to be bigger than the God who surrounds me, the real flood is the absence of my faith.

How many times have the obstacles consumed my attention and crushed my vision? And at the point that I have been so frightened so as to have made something that big, I have at the same time made God something terribly little.
