Of myself, I am not the end of anything. But in God’s hands, I can be the beginning of many things.

Living for myself ends at myself, and that is very small place to end.

To realize your potential you must look beyond the end of yourself, realizing that where you end is most likely where you actually begin.

Someone once said that ‘the end justifies the means’. And as I think about that, I’m not certain that any kind of ‘means’ that are justified will take me to any kind of ‘end’ that I want to be at in the first place.

Without a beginning I am pouring the whole of my existence into the building of endings, while the cross and the resurrection declare that God is incessantly building beginnings from the collapse of endings.

Death is the beginning of the bigger side of the story.

If we live solely within the scope of our sorely limited humanity, the word ‘end’ will mean nothing other than what it says. But if we dare to live within the scope of God’s eternal promises, every time the word ‘end’ appears the word ‘beginning’ will be hot on its heels.

It is only in reaching the end of ourselves that we finally realize that there is an end to ourselves. And it is at this end that we finally realize that God is finally able to begin.

God declared that the end of ourselves need not be the end of ourselves. And if we don’t somehow find that exhilarating, we will end ourselves.
