I must be ever so careful to remember that my pain is a precious salve that when used in the service of others can heal a thousand wounds and more. And I must likewise remember that if I do not use it as such, I have done nothing more than wound myself yet again.

There is no doubt that the most effective way to heal my pain is to purposefully put it to work healing the pain in the life of another. But that means I must endure the pain of not focusing on 'my' pain.

The greatest asset in my pain is the power that it has to bring healing to the life of another, of which I myself am included.

I cannot begin to tell you how many times I have come to prayer broken far beyond any conceivable hope of repair. I have likewise come without anywhere to turn simply because, much like myself, everything around me lies broken beyond repair. And I cannot tell you how many times God has taken that which is broken and has used it to do what could never have done should any of that had been whole.

The water that your soul needs will not be at the bottom of any well that you will ever dig.

God allows us to believe that something can’t be done so that He can show us how our ‘can’t’ is always His ‘can.

God has no interest in filling the holes within us. Rather, He wishes to eliminate them.

With God, my brokenness is nothing more than the platform from which He can demonstrate why He is God.

Pain believes itself to be the force that pushes everyone away. But God says that pain is the invitation that He could never throw away.
