We can live out our lives, and in the end realize that we never really ‘lived’ a day in our lives.

We will know that our rebellion against God has reached a peak when we spend our lives attempting to force failed alternatives to work despite their failures. And if we persist, this ‘peak’ of rebellion will become the valley our of demise.

To tell ourselves that we can’t change the story of our lives is to errantly assume that we are nothing more than the characters in it verses being the authors of it.

Humility is the greatest shaper of souls and crafter of character, for it wipes away all the grandiose things that we spend so much of our lives pretending to be, so that we can spend all of our lives being the exceptional person that we were actually created to be.

It is my wish and most cherished hope that God would be pleased with my legacy, that lives would be changed by it, and that the world would be immeasurably better because I was privileged to leave a legacy at all. And if perchance I am fortunate enough to have these things come to pass, I can then rest in the fact that I have lived well.

Are we so utterly foolish that to repent of our ignorance will require the destruction of our lives? And if this is the sad reality, then let us be destroyed so that we can begin the process of rebuilding.

Sometimes it seems that we choose to see the ‘parts’ of our lives as the ‘whole’ of our lives. Parts are far less frightening, for if we were sufficiently daring to piece them together with all the other assorted parts of our life, the ‘whole’ of them might become bigger than the ‘whole’ of us.

It's not enough just to say something even if we use the most elegant prose to say it. Rather, if a life is not changed in the saying, it is all better left unsaid.

I often wonder if people find themselves in all the wrong places not because they had bad directions, but because they live their lives fearing all the right places.
