In an apathetic world, change is not about the fact that we actually changed something. Rather, it’s far more about the fact that we actually decided to change something.

If ‘what is’ defines my view of the world, then ‘what could be’ will become an ideal with no breath of life in it. Hence, I refuse to leave something so lofty without the ability to breath, for once it is breathing it will start running. And I can think of few things more electrifying as an ideal that is running over ‘what is’ as it is raising up ‘what will be.

If I could understand that every ‘reality’ was once a ‘wish’, and that it moved from the latter to the former because someone was committed enough to make it so, I’d be the person that I want verses the person I’ve become.

It comes down to 'fear' and 'faith'. 'Fear' of what stands in front of me. 'Faith' in believing that the resources I possess can handle what stands in front of me. If I stop at the former, I will change nothing. If I embrace the latter, I can change everything.

The shortest route between where I’m at and where I want to go is a straight line. However, if where I want to go in life is where I’m at, a line is unnecessary. In that case, so is just about everything else.

As I contemplate a relationship with God, I find that I’m afraid to ride on the coattails of the infinite. But what I fear more than that is spending my life in the coat closet.

If truth be told, the easy road is nothing more than an armchair in clever disguise. And if you look around, it seems that there are a whole lot of people in the furniture business.

Often we don’t see the majesty of God’s design because we’re caught up in the mediocrity of our own designs.

Apathy is giving up when we need to get up.
