Ego is borne of the need to ‘prove’ oneself instead of making the choice to ‘be’ oneself. And so maybe we need to begin curbing the birthrate.

To live unto oneself never involves living.

Our greatest enemy is devious enough to tell us that we are our greatest asset, and that the investment of the whole of ourselves into the whole of ourselves represents the whole of our life. But what the person in the mirror is not telling you is what kind of ‘hole’ that will actually dig.

If life is always my party, I’ll never need to order much food.

Be assured that whatever it is, there will be nothing ‘in it for me’ if I approach it from the perspective of ‘what’s in it for me.

If I’m the only person at my party it’s probably because the party is about one person. And if it’s only about one person, it’s not a party.

To live ‘for’ myself is to live ‘by’ myself. And do I really want to do that ‘to’ myself?

The fool who thinks he’s god will rather quickly discover that he is not, which simply means that the person who was fooled by the fool is none other than the fool himself.

Being our own god grants us the terrifying illusion that we possess sufficient power to bring the world around us to its knees, when in fact it will only serve to bring us to our grave. And sadly, the cemeteries seem quite full these days.
