Because thankfulness is the tonic that always cures the cancers of greed, envy and jealously, it should be taken in liberal doses daily.

It’s thinking that I had the solution that probably created the problem in the first place.

I am always trying to figure God out so that I can figure Him in. But after a while I figure that I should just let God be God, and figure that He’ll figure it all out anyway.

Rarely do I truly understand the disease which ails me. Therefore, rarely do I truly understand the fix that would cure me. And so maybe I should truly contemplate how rarely I recognize that God understands both.

Prayer is lifting something up to a God Who had the answer before I knew I had the problem.

The need for a solution suggests the existence of a problem. The existence of a problem suggests the presence of a mistake. And a mistake suggests the existence of a less than wise choice that was probably mine.

More times than not, my solution to a situation is really more about my attempt to come up with a solution to the fact that I don’t have one.

As a Christian, the litmus test of taking on a problem is being convinced that I can’t solve it, for that takes me out of the equation and makes God ‘the’ equation.

When I find that stubbornness continually overrides common sense regardless of the logic of my argument, it seems that the only effective solution is to tell them to go ahead and stick their finger in the socket. And what I find is that what my argument failed to solve, electricity does quite nicely.
