Writing the story of my life limits the whole of its storyline to this single, solitary vantage point from which I survey the world. So, why wouldn’t I want it written by the God who not only sits at every vantage point in all of existence, but Who was also the One that brought everyone of them into existence?

The hand of God is wonderfully evident at those times when He pens stories whose lines we ourselves are far too fearful to pen or whose imaginations are far too limited to envision. And I would unashamedly suggest that the Christmas story is that very story.

We have been granted an exclusive part in the greatest story ever told. And without a doubt, to walk away from that part would be to write greatest tragedy ever conceived.

I’d rather not write my own story, for in doing so I have assumed that I possess a writing ability equal to that of God. And that assumption will result in a story that is certain to have a bad ending.

What’s special about a story if I could have thought it up? What’s special about a story if I was actually courageous enough to play a part in it? What’s special about the Christmas story is that I am incapable of doing either but God did both.

God has penned greatness across the script of your soul. And despite how hard people or circumstance have worked to erase that story, I would have you wake up every morning resting in the fact that God’s pen is eternally indelible.

Your story is not written by those who abused the opportunities that they had to pen a line or two on the pages of your life. For your story is written by the God who’s story will erase all of the lesser lines of men.

Death is the beginning of the bigger side of the story.
