Of course my dreams lay leagues outside the reach of my resources and the grasp of my abilities. For if I did not dream something wildly bigger than myself, I might have some really good ideas but I don’t have any dreams.

If my imagination is taking me ‘away’ from something rather than taking me ‘to’ something, it was never imagination in the first place.

A dream is our imagination waiting for us to be brave enough to pick up a pencil, zealous enough to sketch out a blueprint, determined enough to gather the tools, committed enough to lean into the task, and audacious enough to make imagination the reality that it was always meant to be. For in time, a dream left to be nothing but a dream will eventually leave our souls believing that dreams aren’t worth imagining. And I can only imagine a handful of things as devastating as that.

A lack of imagination results in a lack of living.

The visionless will declare a vision as the pathetic muse of the weak-minded, or some dreamer having fallen victim to the lamentable fiction of their own dreams. And for those with vision, we must remember that it is the criticism of the vision that lends credibility to the fact that it is not only a vision, but a worthy one.

It’s less that we’re missing the gift of vision and more that we have the tendency to obstruct it.

Discerning the difference between a dictator and a leader is quite easy. The former cannot help but see ‘leading’ and ‘serving’ as stark contradictions that by their very nature are utterly incompatible. The latter can’t tell the difference

Dreams are ideas where the collar has been removed and the leash has been thrown away.

At the point that I have rigorously pressed out and reached the end of myself, I have in fact not even broached the place where God is about to begin. Therefore, a conclusion in my mind is barely a point of departure in God’s.
