Oftentimes I think it is far better to listen for an answer, rather than talk out of an effort to create one.

Where am I today?” I ask. Probably exactly where my attitude put me. “Where will I be tomorrow?” I ask. Same place, same answer.

I don’t have all the answers. More than that, I don’t even know half the questions. But I can rest in the fact that God has both.

Our prayers have two stages. First, we pray for something. And then second, we pray for the courage to deal with the rather shocking reality that the prayer was actually answered.

Unlike mankind, I have concluded that God never guesses. And unlike mankind, I have likewise concluded that God never makes mistakes that He’s left trying to guess His way out of.

Sometimes we don’t have the answer because it’s less about getting the answer and more about our unwillingness to acknowledge that we don’t have it and God does.

If God has the answer to every question, maybe my appreciation for God should be shaped more by the number of questions and less by the wisdom of the answers.

My answers are typically ‘guesses’ cleverly disguised as answers.

Why is it that none of the things I construct ever make me feel safe? The answer lies in the fact that safety can’t be created. It can only be found. And the only thing I've found that’s never been created is God.
