The greatest battles are not fought winning the war. Rather, they are fought keeping the peace.

While the ferocity of the battle often rises to such heights that we ignore things as small as this, we would be wise to remember that the innately raw power to overcome the obstacles that blunt our hearts and block our paths lay cupped in the tender hands of a few simple words.

Faith in God is believing that the size of the giant never dictates the size of the stone. It’s just being willing to use it.

Thankfulness is a lethal weapon of unimaginable power. And because it is, it allows us to rise far above all of the dark and maniacal forces that assail us. And in refusing to lower ourselves to the squalid terrain from which these forces have launched their sordid attacks they are doomed to surrender, not because we outwitted them in battle, but because we stole the battle.

Prayer is the work behind the work.

The battle is never fought alone even though we might feel alone in the fight, for with God the feeling of being alone never supersedes the fact of His presence.

Sometimes to destroy the monsters that we face, we have to come against them in the same way that they have come against us. But if I do so in the power of God, I might have come against them in the same way, but I have come against them with a very kind of different power. And in that sense, nothing is the same.

The first step in effectively fighting the battle is to get out of God’s way. The second step is to stay out of His way. And the third step is to never get in God’s way again so that the first and second step become completely irrelevant.
