What excites us the most or likewise scares us the most is when something is exactly what it says it is. And when it comes to Christmas, we’re going to end up finding ourselves on one side of that line or the other.

I wonder how often it’s less about getting out of where we’re at, and more about giving ourselves the illusion that we’re trying to get out of where we’re at. And in the scandalous action of trading the fear of what ‘could be’ for the pain of ‘what is,’ we have traded away the whole of our lives.

It is not a matter of the size of the mountains that stand before us. For although the size of our faith might ‘pale’ in comparison, the size of our God handily ‘impales’ all comparisons.

Bravery is not the absence of fear, for then I doubt that anyone would be truly brave. Rather, it is passion clothed in determination.

The greatest act of strength is to acknowledge that we have none. The greatest act of faith is to believe that our weakness is God’s strength. And the greatest act of courage is to act on these realities.

Once I stare into the face of God, I can stare into the face of anything.

I want to stand on the foundation of ethics and morals when the world around me would assault that foundation with all of its collective might, and in the standing I want to stand on the truth that that foundation will stand long after everything that has assailed it has itself has ceased to stand.

Vision is not the ability to see. Rather, it is the willingness to see.

Denial is fear gone delusional. Acceptance is fear given to God. Engaging is fear overruled by God. Victory is fear banished by God.
