In the vast majority of cases, what I ‘need’ is actually what I ‘want’ dressed in clever disguise.

Strength other than that received from God is just hype manufactured by men.

What are we actually saving ourselves from, other than the failed notion that we can save ourselves?

Freedom abused is one of the greatest forms of slavery imaginable.

I pretend to give gifts that people pretend to be gifts so that I can pretend that I gave something that actually cost me something. And what pretending or this sort gives me is the gift of a pretend life.

The problem with holiness is that once we look into the face of it we are no longer capable of taking that which is odious and filthy and somehow pretending that it’s translucent and clean. In other words, we have to do one of the most revolting things possible; we have to face ourselves.

Possibly the most debilitating deception of all is to create a god of my own making, fool myself into believing that this limp god of mine is the true God, and then construct the entirety of my life on this flamboyantly fictional character. Possibly the most devastating realization of all is when the real God shows up, and in the showing up all of this come crashing down.

Do we actually think that we have the power to subjugate evil and wrestle it into blind obedience as some whipped puppy? For if evil can convince us of this, it has ‘subjugated’ us and ‘wrestled’ us into blind obedience without us having any idea that we just got whipped.

Honor is where I unashamedly declare that every success is the work of my God, where flattery is pretending that every success is the work of my hands. And while pursing honor will insure the death of flattery, pursuing flattery will insure the death of everything.
