My goals exceed the reach of my energies, but my God exceeds the reach of my goals.

To rely on our own energy to sustain us is a ‘set-up’ that will be rather quickly followed by a ‘falling down.’ And to avoid either, I must engage God.

If you’re ‘living’ on your own ‘energy,’ you will eventually have neither.

It takes far more energy to flee from that which I fear than it does to engage that which I fear. So much for energy conservation.

I cannot be afraid of being afraid. Rather, I need to realize that it is my fear that gives me the energy to wrestle that which I fear into the dirt that is soon to become the road underneath my feet.

The statement “this is all the farther I can go” is in fact code for “this is all the farther I’m willing to go.” And if I want to go nowhere in life, all I have to do is keep confusing these two statements.

Did you ever think about how many things we do that we spend far more energy trying to forget than we expended by doing them in the first place? And as terribly obvious as it might seem, maybe the primary place we should expend our energy is taking the time to figure out how we want to expend it before we do.

If I took the energy that I expend in running from my problems and used that energy to face those problems, I probably wouldn’t have a problem and I wouldn’t be out of breath either.
