Life is not about getting everything right, as much as it’s about working to live right.

I want to be a voice for ‘good’ and for ‘God,’ for if I presume to possess the former without the latter there will be nothing good in what I say.

Most of my failures can be ascribed to the fact that I chose that which was ‘easy’ over that which was ‘right’. And while it’s ‘right’ to admit this to myself, it isn’t ‘easy.’ So, which choice am I going to make this time?

We don’t necessarily want to do the ‘right thing’ because it’s not our ‘right thing.’ And maybe when we reach the point where we’ve blown up our lives so much that we can no longer deny that we’ve blown up our lives we’ll finally admit that anything other than the ‘right thing’ will always turn out to be the ‘wrong thing.

The ‘fact’ of my actions frequently collide with the ‘fiction’ of my words. And at what point will I live what I say, so I will avoid what I do?

My conscience might not permit me to do the things that the darker side of me would most certainly like to do. But in the end, what makes the greater story; how I beat the darker side or how it beat me?

It's not about taking a stand, for anyone can do that.  Rather, it's about taking a stand for the right reasons, and taking a stand against taking a stand when they're not. And that’s where more of us need to learn to stand.
