Fear is typically one-part fact and about ten-parts fiction. And that kind of formula grows things real big, real fast.

Most of our fears are borrowed. Since that’s the case, we should get busy returning them.

Surrendering is intentionally laying down the power I possess. And have I considered that the power I lay down is often more powerful than that which I’m laying it down in front of? Therefore, I would be wise to recognize that surrender is less the absence of power and more the presence of fear.

Hoarding is holding onto what I can’t keep and all the while convincing myself that I can. And in the end, what I’m really hoarding is my need to believe something at the expense of my existence.

Selfishness is hunkering down into our own little worlds because we fear that the vastness of the person standing next to us will call out the vastness of the person living within us.

Is the greatest fear our fear of life, or should it be the fear of not changing life? For the former shuts us down, while the latter shuts down the possibility of being shut down.

To have a rigorous imagination is to live in ‘what is’ while embracing all the possibilities of ‘what could be.’ To live a fantasy is an attempt to escape both.

When it comes to the challenges that we’re facing, they’re not necessarily as small as we would like them to be, but they’re probably not as big as we fear them to be.

If I’m pretending I’m either attempting to expand the scope of my world through the magic of my imagination, or I’m attempting to flee the whole of it because of the depth of my fear.
