If you’re not all that fond of the image in the mirror, don’t get rid of the mirror. Rather, get rid of the people that shaped what you’re seeing in the mirror.

What we seek is a reflection of what we will become if we happen to find it. Therefore, if what we seek is driven by the baseness of our greed, finding it might mean losing us.

What we ‘need’ tells us who we are. What we ‘want’ tells us who we want to be. Therefore, we pursue we what we ‘want’ because we don’t want to face who we are.

We frantically expend our lives attempting to be what we think we should be, rather than being who we are. And if we would just settle into ourselves, we would soon discover that that is who we should have been all along.

Most of us spend ourselves trying to be something that we’re not. And if we’d just spend that energy on growing into who we are, we’ll rather quickly discover that who we’re not is something that we’ll be glad we’re not.

Who you are is too vast to be captured by the reflection of a mirror, classified by the state of your attitude, or categorized by the opinions of others. Therefore, if any of these are defining you, you have yet to be defined.

You are not made in ‘your image’. You are, in fact, made in ‘God’s image’. Therefore, which one are you looking for when you look in the mirror?

If I don’t know who I am apart from everyone else, I probably need to spend some time apart from everyone else.

There is that gnawing feeling that we are far more than what we believe ourselves to be. Maybe it’s time to believe the gnawing.
