It is not ignorance that causes me to follow God, nor is it escapism through some rigorously contrived fantasy. Rather, those are the things that keep me from following the world.

What makes me think that I can define reality when I can scarcely define myself.

Ignorance is not bliss. Rather, ignorance is blistering.

If I should be so foolish as to hold ethics as the ignorance of a generation long passed, my life will pass in the ignorance of a generation that handed me what was genius.

To label myself is similar to thinking that I can come up with a single phrase to explain the universe.

If you’re ‘living’ on your own ‘energy,’ you will eventually have neither.

The wisest thing that we can acknowledge is that we are not. The second wisest thing we can acknowledge is that God is. And the third wisest thing we can acknowledge is our need to surrender ourselves to both.

And while following God might be deemed by many as ignorance, or escapism, or legalism, or some other negative label, I would simply say, “Look around you.” “Look around you.” And in doing so ask, “Is the fool the one who continually attempts to sail sunken ships, or the one who follows a risen Christ?

If you’re going to ignore God, at least be mature enough to take responsibility for what’s going to happen after you do that.
