As far my priorities are concerned, there’s the front of the line, the end of the line, and everything in-between. And as far as God is concerned, He spends most of His time waiting to get in line.

Do I place more importance on the gift, or what it cost the person to give me the gift? And if I miss the latter because I focused on the former, my own ignorance has robbed me of both.

Things becomes invisible at the very moment I refuse to grant them importance. And while I am utterly ashamed to admit it, many of the most important things in my life are invisible.

We might do well to take a look at what we’ve crammed into our pockets as it will say much about what we’ve crammed into our hearts.

Sometimes we can’t quite put our finger on something important because we’ve got all of our fingers wrapped around a bunch of other things that are not important.

In the middle of some of the most passionate debates, I often ask my patients, “At your funeral, will it matter?” And it is amazing how often that question is followed by absolute silence.

To own something means that it is so small in stature and importance that it can be possessed. And I don’t know if there’s anything in life that’s really that small.

I would encourage you to always look at the little things, for little though they are, they hold great things. And I would likewise encourage you to pay enough attention to the big things so that you don’t lose the little things that lie within them.
