My goals exceed the reach of my energies, but my God exceeds the reach of my goals.

I thought myself sufficiently shrewd to make whatever decisions I wanted to make, and then to be able to sufficiently steer those decisions away from the rather dark and nasty places they would naturally take me. And I stand oddly perplexed that suddenly everything around me is dark and nasty.

Dreams must be chased, for if we wait for them to chase us we will live a life of waiting.

Are my efforts driven by the need to win at all cost, or am I inspired by the desire to hold onto my integrity despite the cost? For I would be wise to realize that exercising the former will cost me both the former and the latter.

The goal of comfort is at the self-same time the abandonment of great accomplishments.

It is the fool who declares ‘I am ascending the summit,’ while he’s toddling around in the ditch.

The first thing that a person of vision must recognize is that a vision cast solely from the limited confines of their own tiny existence is not a vision. And if we cannot grasp this essential reality, we will be busy casting a lot of things, but none of them will be a vision.

Risk is the clue that our dreams are both real and great.

With God, the word ‘impossible’ is itself impossible.
