It’s not ‘time’ for God, for there was never a time that was not a time for Him. What it’s ‘time’ for is our realization that we’ve needed Him all the time and we just never took the time to realize that.

Nearly everyday life leans over and says, ‘Come on down!’ But standing at the bottom looking up, it’s finally dawned on me that it’s not these invitations that have dug this hole. Rather, it’s the fact that I accepted them.

Once I realize that the tune I’m whistling in my head is the theme that’s driving my heart, I suddenly realize that the most important question I can ask is, “What are the lyrics?

Have we ever thought to consider that God allows things in our lives to die so that in that death we might come to the precious realization of how little we’ve actually lived in the first place?

We wonder why it has ‘come to this.’ And eventually it ‘came to us’ that our decisions could do nothing other than to ‘come to this,’ but the realization of that came a bit too late.

Anyone can pursue great things. But, it is the wise person who, having exhausted themselves in the pursuit of great things, is able to surrender such a pursuit having finally recognized that small things are the great things.

If I look way back to the beginning of ‘whatever this is’ that I’m stuck in the middle of, I suddenly realize that ‘whatever this is’ got started by ‘whatever it is’ that I was doing. And I can be utterly confident in the fact that ‘whatever it is’ that I was doing, it wasn’t thinking.

Silence is the place where we can listen without having to hear anything. And in not having to hear anything we can, in fact, now listen to everything.
