A compass calibrated by my greed is a rather shrewd way to legitimize my agenda. However, true north on a compass such as this is a straight line to the edge of a really big cliff.

The risk in reaching for great things is that they might elude our grasp. But have we considered that the ‘reaching’ might in fact have been the great thing?

To make the ‘shadow’ the tree is to try and climb something that’s always flat and constantly moving. However, it’s something from which we’ll never fall. And maybe that’s why we live in the shadow of dreams rather than living out our lives actually climbing one.

To love is to risk.  To not love is also to risk.  Yet when it comes to love, the greatest risk is incurred when we give risk that much power.

You know as well as I do that choosing to love another person is choosing to be hurt. However, is choosing ‘not to love’ actually choosing to be hurt simply because we will have chosen to keep a part of ourselves to ourselves that will die a most horrific death in the keeping?

How full the cup of my life might be is based largely on the degree to which I’m willing to risk failure, with the degree to which I’m willing to risk success following at a close second.

To believe in yourself is to risk on yourself, and there will never be a time when that risk is too risky.

The choice to avoid risk is the choice to avoid living, and to avoid living is one of the greatest risk of all.

I think that what fear fears is that we’ll actually take the step.
