I must be ever so careful to remember that my pain is a precious salve that when used in the service of others can heal a thousand wounds and more. And I must likewise remember that if I do not use it as such, I have done nothing more than wound myself yet again.

In no way do I want my stubbornness tamed. Rather, I want the whole of it brought into submission to God so that it might be doubled, even tripled in unchecked obedience to His service.

What I’m left with when I have nothing left is the satisfaction of knowing that I left nothing for myself in the service of someone else.

Making oneself large involves intentionally making oneself small.

The image of God infused in us never sees the light of day in the service of self, but it becomes the light of day in the service of others.

The service of self ends in the service of self. And that is a very small place to find myself living in.
