Did you ever think about how many things we do that we spend far more energy trying to forget than we expended by doing them in the first place? And as terribly obvious as it might seem, maybe the primary place we should expend our energy is taking the time to figure out how we want to expend it before we do.

If life has left me hungry, it’s probably not for lack of food. Rather, it’s likely because I’m eating the wrong food at the wrong table.

In case you’re short on definitions, here’s one. Insanity: ‘Destroying the very things that sustain us.’ And if we’re so short-sighted so as to make such preposterous choices, then it’s not all that preposterous to believe that shortly our end will be in sight.

Despite my frustration, the things that I’ve leaned on that are lying on the same ground that I am did not choose me. Rather, I chose them. Therefore, I chose the ground because I chose what couldn't keep me from being any place else.

God invites. We decline. And because of that single foolhardy decision we spend the rest of our lives ‘declining’.

We work hard to believe that our actions really don’t affect others all that much because we want the license to act without thinking all that much.

Has it not ‘dawned’ on us that many of the things that we incessantly blame others for are actually things that our actions originally set in motion? Or, are we too weak to experience a ‘dawning’ of that sort?

The pen of history never runs out of ink and it’s fresh out of erasers. So…write carefully.

If the road behind me is not growing ever longer, then it is likely that the feet underneath me are not moving any longer. And if my feet are not moving, I have somehow, somewhere traded this most glorious journey for lesser endeavors.
