If I have not chosen to stand for something bigger than myself, I will have lived out my life being smaller than myself.

We are not typically supporters of some cause for the greater good, although those are the words that we brazenly scrawl across the banners that we energetically wave in this self-serving parade of ours. Rather, behind the glorious pomp of such sacrificial notions, we are in fact supporters of our own greater good. And when we confuse the greater good with our own greater good, we have irrefutably sentenced the greater good to the greatest death imaginable.

Commitment is a promise to a cause. Being non-committal is a promise to catastrophe.

Any cause that chooses itself as its own greatest good will end up becoming everyone else’s own greatest bad, including itself.

Despite the frequent desperation, I cannot give up. For when I give up, the cause that I am fighting for might be diminished by my absence, but the person who I am is destroyed by my cowardice.
