The misfortunes of yesterday hold the fortunes of tomorrow.

I don’t want to fear the mess that I’ve made of the past, nor fear the mess that I feel I’ll make of the future. What I want to do is to realize that I stand in a moment between both that is dictated by neither. Therefore, I have the power to heal from the former and change the latter.

We need to let the past be the preparation for the future, not the place that is our future.

What lays behind the door of tomorrow has been readied by the events of today. But neither will matter if I’m blocking the door.

What does my future hold? All of the stuff that I packed into it yesterday.

Yet, adventure does not posit a firm destination that is abruptly final. How could it, for that is not the nature of adventure. Adventure is adventure because it does not end, which always leaves the question of “what is next” a question.

Sometimes there is no going back and there is no option in not going forward.

I want to be careful about how much time I’m spending thinking about ‘what was’ or ‘what might be,’ for in doing so I will spend my life missing ‘what is.

If we abandon the past in the pursuit of the future, we’ve left all of the construction materials behind. So, we might show up at the site, but we’re not going to be building anything.
