My love will be complete at the point I realize that my love will never be complete.

Having a noble idea does not make me noble. Acting on a noble idea still does not make me noble. What makes me noble is to realize that nobility is simply putting others before myself and acting on that. And in that sense, we are all called to nobility.

If I have held a part of myself back from my children, I have obviously spent some time calculating the expense of being a father. And the fact is, a real father doesn't do that kind of math.

An idea, regardless of how noble it might be, is only an idea until someone has the idea to act upon it.

My life expended in the service of my life becomes something so terribly narrow that the value of my existence outside of my existence has no value. But if I dare to make myself a servant to others, I have made myself of value to everyone.

Because we weren’t there when the price was paid doesn’t mean that the price wasn’t paid. And if we don’t believe that, maybe we need to consider the solider who never came home so that we could.

If I am not a servant to others, by process of elimination I am then a servant to myself. And that serves no one.

Outwardly we might say we believe that liberty is a gift. But our belief that we have a ‘right’ to that ‘gift’ is the thing that’s certain to kill it.

Freedom is not license. For the former looks out for the good of ‘all’, while the latter looks out for the good of ‘me’.
