I would rather die by my convictions than die by the culture that defies them.

Are the disjointed efforts of opinions, biases, cultural mandates, politically-correct notions, and all things vogue and trendy an effort to write ourselves sweeping permission to justify sweeping behaviors that will in time sweep us away?

A goal lacking a sense of ethics is a goal that lacks any sense.

Ethics are the things that say, 'Don’t stick your finger in the socket.' The world says, 'It’s okay because we’ve shut off the electricity.' And at the point that we’ve chosen to listen to the world and ignore our ethics, we say, 'I’m having a really hard time getting back up.

Timeless principles never age, and truth is as young as the day it was spoken into existence.

If we dare examine our decisions, we will see our values woven in and through every single one of them. Therefore, it would do us well to take an occasional peek to insure that our values remain at their peak.

If we do not determine to aspire to that which we write about, we should rid ourselves of every single sheet of paper and discard every pen that we would use to write upon them.

It’s not the image of standing on my principles that I want my children to remember. Rather, it’s understanding that being on my knees was the single thing that allowed me to stand on those principles.

In choosing to exchange precious principles for worthless impulses, I have far too often bankrupted my soul in order to bankroll my ego.
