To believe in the story of Easter is to believe that a wall is nothing more than a door in disguise.

Darkness is the place where God is not. Therefore, if I’m sitting in a bunch of darkness I’m living without much of God.

The greatest darkness imaginable is found when we’ve chosen to walk in ‘some kind’ of light that’s ‘some kind’ of some thing else other than light.

Fear tells us to stay down so we won’t get knocked down again. God says to get up because while we might get knocked down again, at least it’ll be up the road from the last place where that happened.

The darkness might keep us from seeing the hope around us, but it does not have the power to remove the hope around us.

Some days it seems that the sun never rises and that we are left wandering in a darkness so thick and palatably cold that a thousand suns could not abate it. Yet, it is not a matter of darkness or light. Rather, it’s about believing that darkness may have its day, but light has all of eternity.

If the candles that I am lighting are those that I have so cleverly crafted, a thousand of them or more amassed together cannot dispel the darkness from which I am forever seeking refuge. Yet, a solitary candle fashioned by God leaves the entire world a place where even the slightest of shadows has no refuge, and my candles no purpose.

Everything feverishly works to convince us that they can be everything that we need. And when will the level of our impoverishment finally convince us that we should be unconvinced?

Unlike mankind, I have concluded that God never guesses. And unlike mankind, I have likewise concluded that God never makes mistakes that He’s left trying to guess His way out of.
