I hike up hills and call them mountains. However, God descends to mountains and calls them stepping stones to heaven. And while the immensity of it all scares me a bit, I think I prefer God’s point of view.

I skipped a stone on the glass-like surface of a sleepy lake this morning. And I watched the ripples roll out from the stone’s impact until their energy abated and they fell smooth as was the rest of the lake. And as it become smooth again, I thought that one of the greatest things I could ask of God would be to grant me the gift of a soul with such inner calm that it would smooth out every ripple from every stone that Satan could ever throw into it.

Christmas is God handing us a dream that’s beyond our imagination and then gifting us with resources that are beyond our imagination so that we can make that dream real beyond our imagination.

Peace is a state of being that is not reflective of what is transpiring around me, but is reflective of what God is doing within me.

If I don’t ‘see’ life as a gift I might be ‘seeing’ something, but it’s not life.

You are not made in ‘your image’. You are, in fact, made in ‘God’s image’. Therefore, which one are you looking for when you look in the mirror?

I can imagine all sorts of things. But can I imagine a God who insists that we imagine the impossible so that the impossible need not remain imagination?

If I take this imagination of mine and multiply it a thousand times over, even then I have yet to touch even the barest hem of heaven.

I don’t need a rest from God. What I need is a rest from everything that is not God.
