Devastation is in fact the raw material from which the best journeys are forged and the richest roads are paved.

Being hurried sacrifices the journey for the sake of the goal. But have I stopped to think that achieving the goal is but a moment in time while the journey is made up of a million moments?

It would do me well to realize that the path that has led me to where I am was mapped by those who taught me and paved by what they taught me. Therefore, if God is not my teacher and His truth is not my topic I will find myself where I don’t want to be, having trod a path I didn’t want to take.

The roads of life are paved wide and skirt the mountains. And these very roads are choked with a steady stream of pathetically pedantic travelers who in reality have no intent of traveling. And if we are to discover the real travelers, much less join them, we will find them out on precarious paths that defy the roads and scale the mountains.

To look beyond our horizons is to acknowledge that we’ve hemmed ourselves in by creating them in the first place.

The first golden rays of morning’s light softly backlit the whole of this most intricate web, leaving morning’s dew generously sprinkling a thousand glistening points of light on each tender strand. But because it crossed the broad garden path, those ‘in a hurry’ saw it as an obstacle to where they were going, while those ‘on a journey’ saw it as a privilege that enhanced where they were going.

Am I on a bold journey of lofty ascents, or am I sitting in a simulator of my own making?

Due north’ on my compass is largely ‘due’ to the fact that in ‘due’ time I have been ‘unduly’ lax in recalibrating my compass. And I’m apparently ignorant enough to wonder why I’m lost.

Any road not informed by the past will certainly be an uncertain one.
