We got where we are because our choices mapped the route and paved the road.

My life is a series of invitations accepted and invitations rejected, and the place I now find myself is often a result of accepting the wrong invitations and rejecting the right ones.

I will either adamantly prioritize my agendas at the expense of the truth, or I will consistently bring my agendas into unrelenting obedience to the truth. And if for some reason you’re trying to determine who I truly am, the choice I make will tell you.

It’s not out of the heart that people do damaging things. Rather, it’s out of the wounds of the heart.

To be careless in making decisions is to naively believe that a single decision impacts nothing more than that single decision, for a single decision can spawn a thousand others that were entirely unnecessary or it can bring peace to a thousand places we never knew existed.

The oddity of our existence is that we are capable of digging holes deeper than we are capable of getting ourselves out of. The greatness of God is that He has a shovel long enough for every hole ever dug.

To claim that every staircase goes up means that we’re probably living out our lives in the basement of denial.

I probably ‘thought’ myself into the place that I have now ‘found’ myself.

To sit down at the end of each day and read what we wrote across the page of this day is probably going to make us think real, real hard about what we should write tomorrow.
