The absence of anger-pride-deceit-greed has been referred to as Charitra (Conduct of the Self).

Women have an encircling wall of deceit around them; therefore, they are not aware of deception, it is their natural attribute. Men have the entanglement of egoism; egoism does not let them see that entanglement. After attaining the Knowledge of the Self, men have to keep ‘seeing’ the egoism and the women have to keep seeing the deceit.

Where anger-pride-deceit-greed is absent, the worldly interactions are pure. Or else, if there is attentive awareness [upayog] over them, till then it is acceptable.

I am Chandubhai’- to say this is deceit (kapat) itself. Mainly, when one said the name Chandubhai, deceit begins! You kept your real Self hidden and adopted another name [identity].

Anger-pride-deceit-greed are in the form of ‘discharge’. But if one does not have ‘knowledge of True Self’ (realization of the self), then he ‘charges’ new karmas within.

There is no samkit (vision with right belief that I am Pure Soul) where there are kashays [anger, pride, deceit and greed], and where there are no kashays, there is samkit (self realization).

Soul (Atma) remains very far from where kashays (anger-pride-deceit-greed) are created, the Soul is quite far from there. Where there is absence of kashays, there lies the ‘religion of Vitrags (the enlightened ones)’, and where kashays are present, lies the ‘relative religion’!

Religion (dharma) is decrease in kashay (anger, pride, deceit and greed) and increase of kashay is irreligion (adharma). When Kashay goes away (completely) is the religion of the Self (Soul).

Control over anger-pride-deceit-greed is known as saiyam. Saiyam, in turn has two parts; in one, there is presence of anger-pride-deceit-greed but they are controllable; they do not harm the other person to the slightest extent. The other saiyam is like 'ours' [the Gnani's]. There is absolutely no anger-pride-deceit-greed at all in that. It not only does not harm the other person, but it also does not harm one's own self.
