Gnan’ (knowledge) is to know your own Self, and to not know that, is agnan (ignorance).

Knowledge of the non-Self (paudgalik-gnan) is called agnan (ignorance). Knowledge of the Self is called atma-gnan (realization of the soul). To attain pure knowledge of the Self (The Soul), both, paudgalik-gnan (knowledge of the non self) and atma-gnan (knowledge of the self), are necessary.

Renounce (tyaag) if it is in your prakruti (inherent nature). Do penance (tapa) if it is in your prakruti. Chant (japa) if it is in your prakruti. But except for the attainment of the Self, everything else is a waste.

What state ‘we’ (the Gnani Purush and the manifest Lord within him) must have seen? ‘We’ have seen the ownership of the universe. When we see the owner of the universe that what is his ‘business’ that business when it becomes your business, then you will attain that state.

Do you want to remove your chit (focus) from worldly objects? Who can remove it? You, can, right? You meaning Chandubhai? How can you remove it without first deciding, ‘Who are you?

Graha (things getting accumulated) are not to be reduced. Parigraha, murchha-bhaav (being swooned by material objects or by living beings) needs to be reduced. Graha is a gneya (something to be known while remaining in the state of pure soul).

Liberation is not possible even after a million lifetimes. Your work [of liberation] is getting done only because you have met a living Gnani Purush. The absolute Gnani is One for whom nothing in this world remains to be known. He is constantly conversing with the absolute Self (Parmatma); such a Gnani can do whatever he wishes!

The self contained within the scriptures will not do. The real Self is needed, One that is incomprehensible, One that cannot be inscribed in the scriptures, One that is indescribable, inexpressible. Where words do not reach, where the vision cannot reach, there lies the Self! That Self prevails in an absolutely untainted state, it indeed prevails in a state free from association!

To say that Knowledge of the Self (Gnan) is exactly the same as that other knowledge is considered as speaking contrary to fact (viradhana). Knowledge of the Self is [real] Knowledge and no matter how much 'light' there is in ignorance (agnan; relative knowledge), yet it is still ignorance. To refer to ignorance as Knowlege would be deemed as speaking contrary to fact about Knowledge!
