The last thing he saw before his death was the expression on James’ face, as it changed to something horribly scary.

He didn’t want to see any more reminders of dead friends.

Why did this have to happen? So many innocent lives have already been lost and there were still so many more to go. It was difficult knowing there were still people, who were home asleep, that had no idea what terrors awaited them when they finally started their days. It was a tragedy.

They know death is always a danger with my job, but they put it out of their minds and hope it will never happen to the person they care about.

When I was in the Army, I was trained to survive, not to wait to die. Make no mistake. I am leaving this city one way or another.

Thanks for the sympathy. I appreciate it. We are trying to be strong for the benefit of the group. We can’t afford to break down and cry for every friend we lose. Not while we still have a job to do. Once we get to safety, who knows how we’ll react? I’m trying hard to push my feelings aside and focus on staying alive, but as you said, it’s not easy.
