Mr. Vice President, I don't think the country can take four more years of this type of experience,

I think what we saw in John Kerry last night was a strength of conviction, a vision that we want to see in the president of the United States, ... I think he looked and sounded like a commander-in-chief. to be honest with you, I think the American people saw the John Kerry that I know. This man is ready to keep this country safe. He is ready to finish the job and be successful in Iraq.

I believe it is wrong, in a country of such wealth and prosperity, to have 36 million Americans living in poverty.

But will this attention to poverty be sustained or transient? That depends on our leaders - whether we step up and sustain our moral commitment as the country's conscience would naturally want us to do.
