People play games, the whole damned thing's a game. And friends are just a part of it. They lie, they pretend to know you, to get you. They even pretend to love you, sometimes. But they leave, they always do, in the end. You can try all you want. But I promise you, if there's one thing I know for sure about people, it's that they leave.

So, no matter how happy I was, in the back of my cynical mind I kept waiting for the punchline, the catch, the wicked trick of it all. I was used to the things I loved disappointing me.

I don't think you can really judge a person until you've seen them out of context. Out of their element, you know? When they're scared and free, that's when who they really are comes out. That's when you really see them, know them.
