necessary is to manage the process, manage it fairly and equitably in the interest of all, in the interest of the countries of origin, transit country and the recipient country and above all respect the rights of the migrant or those on the move.

This moment belongs, above all , to the people of East Timor who have so richly earned their freedom.

Once again I appeal, to Israelis and Palestinians alike, to rise above feelings of anger and vengeance, however natural, and to devote all their energies to negotiating a true and lasting peace in which two peoples will live side by side, each in their own state.

The process has been difficult, but the outcome is a clear demonstration of the will of all the members of the Security Council to place the interest of the Iraqi people above all other considerations.
