Give people the benefit of the doubt, over and over again, and do the same for yourself. Believe that you’re trying and that they’re trying. See the good in others, so it brings out the best in you.

When we let go of our pride, we give ourselves permission to be human. We give ourselves permission to slip up and hurt and to grow without ridiculous standards of perfection constantly looming over our heads. We give ourselves a chance to face conflicts, to face ourselves, and to heal. And, in this healing process, we give others a chance to follow our lead.

Set a goal. Say it out loud. Let it scare you. Let it change you. Let it excite you. And then, let it motivate you. Until one day, you’ll say it out loud and it’ll be a reality. A product of your hustle, of your persistence. The product of a dreamer who was brave enough to leap.

It’s like there’s a check-list of accomplishments that people expect from you. Like it’s the only path to happiness, this societal construct of what makes us successful and worthy. But, don’t buy it. You can be happy no matter which part of the story you’re in. You are worthy in every chapter.

I know this life isn’t fair. I know that beauty will fade and hard times will grip our hearts and darkness will threaten to swallow us whole. But, I’m ready to face the night with you.
