The most effective, lasting, compassionate form of teaching is through example. If you want to teach a child to write, write passionately. If you want to teach a child to dance, dance with abandon. If you want to teach a child to care, extend a hand of service and compassion. If you want a child to listen, listen to him intently. If you want to change the world, then be that change. Your example is more influential than you can imagine.

Our greatest duty to our children is to love them first.  Secondly, it is to teach them.  Not to frighten, force, or intimidate our children into submission, but to effectively teach them so that they have the knowledge and tools to govern themselves.

A great father is one whose children look up to him rather than away from him.

You cannot know what I do not tell you, yet you will be judged harshly for not knowing.

Mind what you say, but mind more closely what you do. For though children close their ears to you, their eyes remain wide open.

Children rarely follow parental advice unless it is acted out repeatedly. It’s called being an example.

Effective parenting requires being the grown up version of what you want your children to be. Why? Because example is the most compelling superpower.
