New York City has dealt with storms much, much worse than this, ... The snow doesn't mean anything to New Yorkers. We can handle the snow. We can handle anything.

What I like to do on New Year's day is go to four or five or six places where people who are working for New York City are working, just to thank them,

When I said the city would be stronger, I didn't know that. I just hoped it, ... There are parts of you that say, 'Maybe we're not going to get through this.' You don't listen to them.

The part I will not tolerate is people violating the law, whether you are the mayor, a policeman, fireman or ordinary citizen. You don't get to punch New York City police officers, ... For that you go to jail.

All it's going to do to the New Year's Eve celebration is make it more special, ... The snow should end by the end of the day (Saturday) so we can clean it up, and New York City will look even more beautiful.

The city is going to survive, we are going to get through it, ... It's going to be very, very difficult time. I don't think we yet know the pain that we're going to feel when we find out who we lost, but the thing we have to focus on now is getting this city through this, and surviving and being stronger for it.
