Me? I want to move with my not-safe-but-good God.

Secrets make us sick, I've heard. I made secrets out of my questions and doubts and sadness and grief because I didn't know how to simply sit with them. Even now, I fight against the urge to explain or pretend or ignore away the darkness. It's uncomfortable to lean into the pain, to seek God there in the darkness.

Silence was akin to prayer for me for a long time. I simply moved through life with silence in my spirit, waiting on God. I couldn't pray, but the part of me that had once prayed was waiting. Simply waiting.

We pit our pain against God, holding tally and requiring meaning, instead of saying the truth: This isn't God's will.

Many of the seminal social issues of our time - poverty, lack of education, human trafficking, war and torture, domestic abuse - can track their way to our theology of, or beliefs about, women, which has its roots in what we believe about the nature, purposes, and character of God.
