You identify yourself always in relation to someone or something.You are like a car tethered to other cars from all directions, which in turn are tethered to other cars. Result is stress, dilemmas, conflicts.

The journey to know the “I” is called inward journey. Whether you are studying galaxies or blackholes or quantum particles, never forget that your purpose is to know the “I”, not what the “I” is seeing.Watch “I” changing its location. When you are eating delicious meal “I” is body. When you are reading book, “I” is mind. Who is watching mind? Another partition of mind. When you keep watching “I”, you will realize that “I” is “nothingness” and it just gets attached things like body or mind.

An actor gets into his role when he reaches the film set. But every corner of this world is a film set. As the sets change, you switch from one role to another spontaneously. From family roles to office roles, from lead role to side role, you play them all as per the set around you, In temple you are in the role of a devotee, in meditation you are in the role of a seeker. When you are not in a role, who are you?

Nobody knows who you truly are. From your milkman to your spouse, everyone has a different image of you. You keep accepting, rejecting. correcting and enhancing those images. Even you don’t know who you are. You are searching for yourself.

The things you hate and fight are shaping your identity. If your enemies are not worthy enough to define you, stop giving them importance. They will fade away and stop existing for you.

Difference between ego and identity: You hold an identity to enjoy the Leela (divine play). Ego holds you and pulls you into Maya (illusionary trap).
