Young children are amazing mentors to experience present moment mindfulness. Follow their exploration and they will reveal the treasures and pleasures of mindfulness.

Parents who are emotionally unavailable, indifferent, uninterested, too busy and/or highly critical set their children up for self-rejection and the need for external validation.

Of course, the way our parents are with us is due to the poor mentorship they received from their parents.

When we learn to seek validation from our parents and the outside world, it is easy to fall for the idea that if we just fit in, look good enough for others, or achieve great success, all will be right in the world.

What we experience as children becomes familiar and we are more likely to replicate experiences and attract people who carry similar patterns as our primary care givers.

You can either strengthen a child in love and connection or you can plant seeds of self-doubt, self-rejection, and disconnection. The choice is yours.

We are witnessing a time where children are rising up in their power as voices for inspirational change.

Children are mentoring their parents and older generations to actively begin to make major changes, in evidence of glaring environmental and social issues that previous generations have taken too long to address. They feel the urgency for change because they know the long-term consequences that affect their future. Be curious and listen to their passionate messages and educated calls-to-action. Let yourself be inspired to contribute to change as best you can.

To end the cycle of generational loneliness, new parents need to make connecting familiar and to set boundaries around technology for all family members.
