Winston Churchill once said "We shape our buildings, and afterwards our buildings shape us". In a broader context, we have shaped our technology to achieve greater productivity, responsiveness and hyperconnectivity in the global community.The unintended consequence is that our technology is now playing a greater role in defining who we are by shaping our culture creating an "on-demand" society that is disconnected from our local communities.

It is becoming more difficult to find differentiated information on the Internet. Likewise it is becoming more difficult to contribute meaningful input because of the tendency of people only hearing recognizable voices.As this plays out, we will see more fracturing of society with people only hearing siloed information without an intelligent contrary view to provide balance.

Accelerating progress requires building on foundational innovations, or as Bernard of Chartres stated - “standing on the shoulders of giants”. In the fractured society we live in, the lack of civil discourse makes it difficult to find a stable place where “we are carried aloft and elevated by the magnitude of the giants”. - Tom Golway

The word visionary has become so overused to the point of irrelevance. We focus on a limited set of techno-celebrities when we need to build collaboration among people with unique life experience who offer diverse thinking for solving society’s big challenges. - Tom Golway
